Several thousand more non-repetitive pictures could have been obtained in the halls of the Vatican Museum, and much better pictures of the Sistine Chapel could have been obtained if proper video had been allowed. Then, Pope Benedict VXI gave his Wednesday blessing of the crowd in St. Peter's Square. The youngest member of our Perillo Tours Familia pointed out that "it really should be called St. Peter's Circle", and right she is! Italy travel: Rome, St. Peter's Square during the live blessing of the crowd by Pope Benedict XVI. Italy travel: Rome, inside St. Peter's Church, gazing upon Michaelangelo's Pieta, one of the masterpieces created when he was young. This statue is basically life sized, as opposed to most of the other super sized monuments our Perillo Tours Familia has been exposed to on this trip. Maybe it was that simple contrast that made this statue so special. Then, the video shows cathedral cupola inside cupola, and more giant sized awesomely impressive statues, artwork and architecture inside St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Italy travel: Rome, walking towards Piazza Navona right out of the Pantheon. Angry skies looked menacing but fortunately gave no rain.
