Vacations With The Family Rock!
Where should I take the grown up family for Christmas and the New Year in Asia or the Indian Ocean?
I'd like a beach, not a family resort, but with other stuff to do, eg sightseeing, snorkelling, diving. My kids are all adults! I work in the Middle East so it's got to be east or south from here.
Why don't you ask them and take them to where the most people want to go? That would make more sense than asking us.

The Maldives, although you're limited on the sightseeing front.
Alternatively Egypt would be pretty spectatcular.
